Load the archive into Claude

Recommended pack — Claude Pack (Compact Book Pack); paid plans can use the Full Archive.

Setup steps

  1. step 01

    Create a Claude Project

Claude → Projects → New. A Project keeps custom instructions, uploaded files, and chat history together.

  2. step 02

    Upload the Claude Pack

Add every file from 02-claude-pack/ to the Project's knowledge. Free and lighter plans should stay on the Compact Book Pack; paid plans can swap in 05-full-archive/.

  3. step 03

    Set the project instructions

Paste the contents of READER_PROTOCOL.md into the Project's custom instructions field. This pins reader expectations across every chat in the workspace.

  4. step 04

    Begin a reading session

Start a new chat in the Project and paste the starter prompt. Ask Claude to begin in Mission Control mode and to cite the file behind every claim.

Starter prompt

I am reading The Ocean Accord, an agent-native literary archive.

Read START_HERE.md, READER_PROTOCOL.md, MASTER_CANON.md, and ROUTE_GUIDE.md first.

Act as the reading interface. Do not invent canon. Do not summarize the whole book at once. Guide me through the story one beat at a time.

Start with Mission Control for Chapter 1. After each operational beat, offer me either a character witness record, a systems note, or a record triangulation option.

Copy this into the platform after uploading the Claude Pack.

Notes & limits

  • Claude Projects are self-contained workspaces — chat history plus a knowledge base of uploaded files.
  • Paid Claude plans extend the project knowledge with retrieval when the conversation approaches the context limit, so the Full Archive becomes viable.
  • Strong at long-form citation. Particularly good for Ethics Board and Incident Review modes.
  • If you hit attachment limits, split into chapter sub-folders or drop down to the Compact Book Pack.
